LEGAL STRUCTURE
Learning Curve Media CIC is a social enterprise with Community Interest Company status (Company No. 62424405). We are regulated by the CIC Regulator - which ensure that all assets and profits are used in accordance with the company's community objectives.
HISTORY
The company was launched off the back of a series of competition wins including The Big Boost FIlm Pitch competition at Excel centre, London 2007. This led to funding from Unltd Millennium Awards and a commission to create a short film.
The short film 'SEXY BECAUSE SEEING IS BELIEVING', a parody of Calvin Kliens Obsession advertisements promoting disabled sexuality, was selected for screening at X'08 Disability International Film Festival at NFT, Southbank (National Film Theatre, London).
We were then commissioned by I Love Salsa Ltd to make a live-action-doc, 'RAINBOW COLOURS '08' - showing how children aged 3-11 from a deprived, diverse ethnic community in East London, is tranforming lives through latin dance. The film was described by Caroline Miller, Director of UK Dance as "Brilliant... what a wonderful video... moved me to tears".
We have since worked with a variety of clients on various projects, including Youth Offenders Service Islington Borough Council, who have commissioned us to make a series of shorts in regard to 'WHATS ON IN ISLINGTON'.
PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy is simple - life is for learning - to learn is to grow. We believe the most effective tool for a positive social impact is a willingness to constantly learn and share knowledge. All of our work is guided by this philosophy.
